As a more expensive and larger counterpart to the UN46B8500, the UN55B8500 also adds along a Digital Audio Optical input.

It is in all other respects the same, including the 7,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, Auto Motion Plus 240MHz technology, and Wide Color Enhancer Pro. Signature to the UN55B8500 is that it supports DivX files AND DLNA media streaming, allowing users to access videos, music, and photos directly from their PC or DLNA mobile device. Note also the 4 HDMI-CEC ports equipped with Anynet+, which in turn lets users control all their devices — BD players, HD cable boxes, and more — from the included Samsung universal remote.
